Workhouse Tour

Current location:
Workhouse graveyard
Death in the workhouse often meant burial in an unmarked pauper's grave. In the 1840s, epidemics of cholera, typhus and smallpox, and in Ireland the Great Famine of 1845-50, led to the use of mass open graves.
